The Control of Waste at our Car Parks

Recycling and Waste Management

Green Parking is an affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Managers (CIWM) and ensure our waste management practises on land we occupy are professionally maintained and protect our clients from Environmental Law issues.

We respect that Environmental Law places duties not only on landowners and occupiers but also on those who have control over and make decisions on the management of land and buildings. Managing Agents are also subject to such duties and responsibilities by virtue of the services that they provider to  their clients.

Green Parking also recognise that landlords are receptive to activities which maintain a green approach to property management. Our clients include Institutions, Retailers, Managing Agents and the Public Sector.

To this end the company concentrates on the fundamental aspects of REDUCING, REUSING AND RECYCLING from its car park operations.

Examples include:

  • DISCOUNT PARKING TARIFFS FOR CAR SHARING TO WORK
  • ELECTRONIC PARKING PERMITS AND PAPERLESS PARKING VIA MOBILE PHONE BASED TECHNOLOGY
  • LINKING SOCIAL MEDIA TO THE COMPANY’S WEB SITE TO LOCATE CAR PARKS AND REDUCE TRAVEL TIME
  • RECYCLING PAPER, PLASTIC AND GLASS WASTE FROM DEDICATED COLLECTION CONTAINERS ON OUR CAR PARKS

This waste is primarily the recycling of paper, plastic bags, bottles and cans and other ‘kids waste’. Bins are provided and customers are encouraged to recycle at the point of parking rather than placing waste in council bins destined for landfill.

Green Parking staff their car parks enabling the recycling message to be made and the collection and transfer of recyclables away from landfill a reality.

Electric Vehicle Parking (EV)

Green Parking are preparing to adapt to the tide of change which is gradually growing within the motor industry for the production of electric vehicles (EV) to replace the fuel based vehicles we know today.

It is already clear that the current batch of hybrid cars and vans will be further advanced by the major global Motor Companies to provide ready substitutes for all our logistical and fashion needs, as sustainable power gradually replaces fossil based vehicle production.

How this affects the parking industry at this early stage is still somewhat circumspect , however, one current negative is a lack of charging points could lead to only a handful of car parks being able to accommodate EV parking.

Green Parking are seeking to work with as diverse a cross section of green energy providers as possible to ensure our car parks can offer the most appropriate forms of EV charging for the driver, whether it is a time requirement to recharge or a logistical need for mileage capacity.
